>About Us

W & G Machine Company Incorporated (W & G), has been a part of the aerospace industry as supplier of helicopter spares since 1952. Originally the company was a supplier of spares to the Sikorsky Aircraft Company for their full fleet of aircraft. This arrangement changed in the early 1980's when W & G's role as a Sikorsky supplier ended to allow the company more autonomy and independence. As a result of this change in strategic direction, the core business of W & G expanded with the primary focus changing to the US Department of Defense, in particular the US Army.

In more recent years, commencing from about 1987, W & G expanded its business further by seeking contracts from overseas operators of Sikorsky and Boeing built aircraft, notably the Royal Air Force (UK) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), and the defense forces of Israel and Turkey. W & G's customer base now also includes the Pacific Basin and NATO operators. The broadening of the customer base has also included the number of aircraft types supported which now extends to Sikorsky (UH60, SH60, H53, H3), Boeing (CH47 and McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Apache).

Current Role of W & G Machine Company

Today the core business of W & G Machine Company is to provide spare parts support and related logistics services to the US Military helicopter fleet of Sikorsky and Boeing aircraft. This is achieved through the various US Defense Logistics Agencies (DLA's) who have been delegated the procurement tasks by the Pentagon and also the individual Service Logistics Commands.

Australian Office

On the strength of our association with the Australian Defence Force since 1987 W & G Machine Company opened a sales office in Australia in order to deal directly with the customer. This followed a successful association with Boeing - ASTA Defence (Aerospace Technologies of Australia) in Australia, which represented W & G's interests since 1993. The opening of the office was completed in August 1998 and is based in Melbourne, the capital of the State of Victoria.

ISO 9002 Accreditation - Quality Assurance in Production, Installation and Servicing

In July 1998, W & G was accredited as an ISO 9002 Quality Assured Firm for the 'manufacture, supply and overhaul of aerospace components and assemblies for military applications'. The ISO accreditation audit of W & G Machine Company was witnessed by US DOD Defense Contract Management Command QAR representatives for certification as a qualified Defense contractor.

Organizational Development

The growth of W & G since 1987 has seen a two fold increase in business turnover and the number of staff employed. This increase has included the expansion of the customer base to include the overseas military customers of the UK, Japan, Israel, Turkey, Germany, and Australia. The growth has been gradual and provides sound evidence that the company is healthy and providing a quality product and services that meets the customers needs. In order to meet the growth in business activity and sales, W & G completed a review of its organizational structure and business processes. Implementation of the organization restructure was completed in July 1998 to coincide with ISO 9002 accreditation. In April 2000, W & G Machine Company expanded its company manufacturing facilities to include the lease of a second 12000 square foot building to accommodate the assembly line for Black Hawk interior panels and its overhaul requirements. The company is presently implementing a new computer data based Manufacturing Control System (MCS) to improve production control and material management methods and systems. This will be completed by August.

Current Business

W & G currently has an order backlog with deliveries scheduled beyond the year 2006.
